Honestly a lot of enemies in Expedition 33 are like this with their stance switching

Runner Up 3 - Fly Knight

This game was so rad! My only complaint is there isn't much of it. It was also one of my friends first WASD controlled games which was additionally entertaining. ♥️

Runner Up 2 - Baldurs Gate 3

Doesn't make the list since my wife and I played through Act 1 on release so technically played before.

Restarted and made it through to the end this time, phenomenal game! The DnD stuff was very daunting for us but we got it eventually, just!👌

Runner Up 1 - Morsels

I hate to be negative but man I really wanted to like this game more than I did.

An absolute visual delight to look at and you can see the vision. It's opaque to a fault I feel, no clarity at all. I had a hitless run by sheer accident, this should feel good, not confusing!

01 - Death Stranding DC

What a spectacular game. I was sold on it after listening to the Mega64 Podcast discuss rebuilding the world for other players, very rewarding in a special way.

Also makes it on the small list of games that have made me well up, really powerful acting.

Keep on keeping on!

02 - Judero

This one is special, made with heart and love from beginning to end. I genuinely loved this game and wish there was more like it,

Fascinating, humourous and rewarding, you should check it out!

03 - Hello Feline Island Adventure

Lovely game! Honestly this one surprised me, months later and it's still introducing new content. You rarely feel you reach "the daily limit" these Crossing style games usually have.

Also introduced me to the greatest ever fictional character - Big Challenges

04 - Promise Mascot Agency

This feels like something you would've downloaded on your PS Vita and lament that no one else has played it to talk about it.

Super fun world to drive around and excellent upgrades, some very silly and memorable characters too. Pros definitely majorly outweigh the cons.

05 - Tiny Terry's Turbo Trip

An eccentric and unique game with a lot of heart and genuinely funny humour, all round excellent game.

Personally I would have liked a bit more to do with the car, I think I spent 95% of the game on foot but not really a complaint!

06 - Monster Hunter Stories (1)

MH works so well as a RPG, all the usual addictive material collection and armour/weapon forging is here. Sad I didn't check this one out when it first came out!

Loses a point for not being able to click through dialogue quickly.

Spectacular sound design below:

07 - Ball X Pit

This game absolutely gripped me for a week straight, absolute blast, especially at the beginning when overcoming the first hurdles.

It gradually began to feel more like you were failing due to lacking stats rather than player skills which dulled the experience in the end.

08 - Nightreign

Chaotic mayhem with some absolutely spectacular boss fights, woah!

Good laugh with pals but could imagine it being very miserable with randoms. Nice budget price too which was pleasant to see in this environment.

09 - Inkbound

Super fun turned based rogue like I played with my buddy @kannterart.bsky.social. Still got the itch to play more.

Great skill synergies and rewarding risks to be taken. Some of the bosses drag on a bit but always feel good to beat one, fun cosmetic unlocks too!

10 - Steamworld Build

Charming town builder game with a nice amount of polish. Satisfied my itch for automation.

The mining system running in tandem with the town building was handled really well, lots to optimise & unlock.

I'm a sucker for when a game mixes mining sfx into the OST too, banging!🤌

Finished & Platted Judero last night, an absolutely wonderful game full of heart and soul from beginning to end, I wish there was more like it. I likely will be endlessly talking about it/ recommending it to my pals for awhile so good luck to y'all.

Ps - nice to see a bit of Fife representation!

Finished Tiny Terry's Turbo Trip yesterday, amazingly good fun! The art, animations, gameplay and humour were 👌👌👌

I was shocked when the credits rolled to see it was mostly made by one person (bar the catchy music), that's wild! More games like this pls.

The Mechanical Age in Myst PC spooked me mega, great atmosphere. For some reason I convinced myself that I was being actively followed in the game (although there are no actual threats at all) and rapidly clicked my way out to the HUB in a panic.
