No it isn't moles. We're helping St Cleer church as part of Living churchyards create a wildflower meadow. Two years of cutting, raking + establishing yellow rattle, so far seeds have failed, so it's plug time. Devil's bit scabious, knapweed, clover + trefoil. Gambled on no frost. So far so good...

Our first bio-fluorescent walk, co-hosted with Natural England's Golitha Falls NNR team, was a great success, even if it was a bit early to see many invertebrates. We will be hoping to conduct some more later this year at the same location, so keep an eye out! #Cornwall #Wildlife #Biofluorescence

Saturday we were out planting trees (oak + beech) as part of our 25 in 25 project, where we aim to plant 25 trees in hedgerows on 25 farms in St Cleer Parish and maintain them over 3 years. Thanks to 2 farms agreeing to be pilots + Forest for Cornwall for the trees #TreePlanting #NatureSky #Cornwall

The first wood anemones are out at Rosecraddoc woods. Spring is becoming bolder. #wildflower #Cornwall

The scarlet elf cups (or are they ruby elf cups - apparently very difficult to tell the difference?) are out again across St Cleer Parish. They thrive in damp patches (plenty of those around here) and in leaf litter. #fungi #fungifriends

The first butterfly of 2025 I saw in St Cleer was a brimstone, which hurtled by, so excuse me if I use the photo of a male brimstone I spotted yesterday in Estover woods, Plymouth. Their bright colouring is thought to have inspired the name "butter-fly". @savebutterflies.bsky.social #Savebutterflies

St Cleer Parish covers much of the Southern part of Bodmin moor. Golitha Falls, just outside the parish (wrong side of the Fowey, in St Neot parish), is closer to St Cleer than St Neot. It's a patch of temperate rainforest, where we run events such as bat and UV light walks and a butterfly transect.
