As in individuals that made it to adult age may have had greater bone density and were likely physically fitter but if the tradeoff is the sick and infirm dying off in resource limited environments does it mean the population as a whole is healthier in a broad sense?

Robert great point about the dietary sources for early hunter gatherer populations. I'm always sceptical about people claiming these groups were "healthier" though in the sense that we'll never know what their infant mortality rates were/life expectancy etc
