Witches lived powerless for centuries as marrowen concentrations in the atmosphere dwindled. After the reawakening, however, as marrowen returned to our world so did their magic stronger than ever before.
Living unnaturally long lifespans witches have lived amongst humanity even before the reawakening. Unlike demons and consecrants their powers are related to the manipulation of marrowen itself as an energy and their capabilities manifest differently to the abilities of the 6 bloodlines.

Witches are an exceedingly rare offshoot of humanity. Hated by all sides for their actions in the war they dwell in secrecy within obscure parts of the city only emerging during times of great turmoil or to enact their various strange plans and schemes to further their unknown agendas.

It is said that he wandered the war torn wasteland for decades before he discovered the marrow firmament and chose to settle beneath it. Together with humans, demons, and consecrants working hand in hand he founded Purgatia as a place of peace and hope where all could be equal and live in harmony.

On very rare occasions the child will inherit the bloodlines of both parents and find themselves labeled a Stayn. Their lack of ability to be sorted into one bloodline means that Stayn's often grow up abandoned, relegated to live in the poorer districts where people are more accepting of any creed.

While these bloodlines do intermingle occasionally (due to intense rivalry and other factors there is a portion of each bloodline who finds interacting too intimately with other bloodlines to be taboo) it is most common for the child born to be of the bloodline of the mother. However, ...

So what's a demon in the story? Well, that's simple, a demon is a person who has abilities that fall under one of the 6 demonic bloodlines and also has physical traits that mark them as one. These traits can include a variety of things such as elongated ears, tails, claws, or even occasionally horns
