Deputy Sir Philip Bailhache is proposing to amend the Minister for Social Security's Proposition so the that States Assembly sets the maximum level of compensation awarded in employment-related discrimination claims.

La Moye School's Year 5 students held debates in the States Chamber this week on two Propositions.

The morning group's was: 'Single use plastics should be banned.'

A group of law students from Compass Jersey came on a tour of the States Chamber. 🏛️

They discovered more about the Island's political history and the role of the States Assembly.

They also heard how the Legislative Drafting Office creates the laws.

Victoria College Prep Year 5 students visited the States Assembly Chamber today to debate: 'Mobile phones should be banned for all children under the age of 16'.

They voted to reject and accept it!

• Plans to reintroduce the role of Senator.
• A proposal to adopt Liberation Day as Jersey’s National Day.
• A law change that would define small watercraft used for leisure activities as ships.

Responding to a number of trials and suggested changes to road layouts, the Environment, Housing and Infrastructure Scrutiny Panel have written to the Minister for Infrastructure.
The Panel asked what process officers follow to engage and consult with residents and public.

The Minister for Children and Families, Connétable Richard Vibert brought some guests from @medwaycouncil.bsky.social Children's Services, on one of our States Assembly tours.

They learned how Jersey's Parliament works as well as hearing about the traditions and history of our unique system.
