16-year-old Silinese Rhos is genderfluid. Sitia says "little brother" when he's wearing silver, "little sister" when she's wearing gold. He's euphoric when Jecki recognizes and acknowledges his gender shifted.

Text from chapter 9 of "Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown" by Tessa Gratton @tessagratton.bsky.social‬: Jecki grinned and added, “A little too fast to fully appreciate, though.” Sitia laughed. “You’ll get to see me plenty.” She pulled Rhos around from behind her. “You remember my little sister Rhos?” Jecki blinked, and Yord frowned, but they both recovered swiftly. Jecki said, “Of course we do. You fought well, too, Rhos. It was interesting watching your technique especially, as a fellow short person.” Rhos smiled bashfully, the same expression she’d worn when given compliments last night. Everything about her seemed the same, and Jecki wondered how Sitia knew about the gender shift. Was there a pattern to something Rhos did with her wardrobe or hair or something? Rhos’s jumpsuit matched Sitia’s, even being black and purple. Her ears were studded with gold today instead of silver. Maybe that was it. Or maybe it was an ephemeral sibling thing. Or maybe, Jecki thought, slightly amused at herself, Sitia simply asked.

Star Wars: The Mask of Fear by Alexander Freed introduces non-binary point-of-view character Chemish Runazha, who I won't say much about to avoid spoiling their specifics. They're human, Imperial, with "browned skin", "bright-green eyes", "runner's shoulders concealed beneath the gaudy jacket". 1/3

The newest Star Wars: The High Republic book is Into the Light by Claudia Gray, with gorgeous cover art by @coreybrickley.bsky.social (see textless: www.instagram.com/p/DBfMuS9RseH)

Several LGBTQIA+ characters reappear but that aspect never comes up in this story and there aren't any new ones.

And then February 2021, Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #1, @djolder.bsky.social and Harvey Tolibao, introduced Lula Talisola and Zeen Mrala, and their stories were woven together from the very start 🥹
Two girls face the viewer, each in one panel. On the left is Lula, a Black teenage girl, whose thoughts in a blue box are "... We have no choice!" Someone off-panel says: "And Padawans... may the Force be with you!" In the right panel, Zeen is a teenage alien girl with pink skin and purple tendrils instead of hair, and a blond boy behind her points up and says, "Look!" Lula is dressed in brown Jedi garb with other Jedi behind her, using lightsabers to block red blaster bolts. Zeen watches them in awe, with her thoughts in pink boxes. Seeing the Jedi using the Force to help people makes her question if she can be like them. Zeen and Lula are in two panels facing the viewer. They are having the same thoughts, conveyed by using a pink-to-blue gradient in boxes containing those thoughts: as they sense destruction, the power of the Force rises in them, and they rise with it. Lula and two other Jedi continue use lightsabers while Zeen lifts her hands towards the sky. Zeen's pink hand reaches upward towards gravel and stones; she says: "Can't... hold it..." Next to hers, Lula's brown hand rises as she says, "Hold on!" Zeen is stunned as she looks at Lula, who smiles and says, "We got you."

Star Wars Queery: will Luke Skywalker ever get to be bi/pan on-page again (or be a-spec!) or will other stories pretend not to see it?

Did their genetic manipulation include differing sexes? Was a gender imposed at birth, parallel to IRL experiences of intersex people?

Were they raised as the same gender but someone transitioned? For instance, raised as brothers but Am is a trans woman or as sisters but Karre is a trans man.

Were Am and Karre always twin sister-and-brother in-universe?

Flashbacks in reverse chronological order include 2 embryos sharing a container, 1 zygote before that, suggesting Am and Karre are monozygotic/identical twins.

Am and Karre from the 2021 Star Wars: Visions short "THE TWINS" are described as twins and clones, dubbed in English by a queer pair: Am is Alison Brie (she/her, bi, came out 2023) and Karre is Neil Patrick Harris (he/him, gay).
