Star Wars Queeries
@starwarsqueeries.bsky.social
Do you have queries about queerness in Star Wars (QUEERIES)? Send em in! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ Run by @immithrax.bsky.social (she/her). Tracking LGBTQIA+ characters: https://swficreference.fandom.com/wiki/LGBTQIA%2B_characters
16-year-old Silinese Rhos is genderfluid. Sitia says "little brother" when he's wearing silver, "little sister" when she's wearing gold. He's euphoric when Jecki recognizes and acknowledges his gender shifted.

To avoid spoilers, I won't describe Rhos/Lio's romance trajectory. Buy/check it out! 5/5

"Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown" by Tessa Gratton @tessagratton.bsky.social has a Star Wars first: a nonbinary/nonbinary romance between Lionine "Lio" Graf (they/them) and Rhos Arthyst (he/him, she/her). Another NB character is Rap Arcon (they/them). GET THIS BOOK NOW. 1/5

The book also has profiles for background characters:
- Sage Kinzem, they/them, investigator and new Jedi Knight
- Umbaran wives Asala Suro and Cosa Simo, seen in Olega City
- Bihun and Basko's species is interesting not-really-genders-wise; text in alt (TY again, @jessicamumford.bsky.social)!

Star Wars: The Mask of Fear by Alexander Freed introduces non-binary point-of-view character Chemish Runazha, who I won't say much about to avoid spoiling their specifics. They're human, Imperial, with "browned skin", "bright-green eyes", "runner's shoulders concealed beneath the gaudy jacket". 1/3

Star Wars: The Acolyte: Wayseeker by @justinaireland.com has a new, incidental non-binary character:
"Master Niko Jiro, a slim human with pale skin and a halo of wild, dark curls, was the only other Jedi High Council Member in attendance. They gave Indara a kind smile of encouragement." 1/2

The newest Star Wars: The High Republic book is Into the Light by Claudia Gray, with gorgeous cover art by @coreybrickley.bsky.social (see textless: www.instagram.com/p/DBfMuS9RseH)

Several LGBTQIA+ characters reappear but that aspect never comes up in this story and there aren't any new ones.

And then February 2021, Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #1, @djolder.bsky.social and Harvey Tolibao, introduced Lula Talisola and Zeen Mrala, and their stories were woven together from the very start 🥹

But then: @chuckwendig.bsky.social's Aftermath!
- Esmelle and Shirene, wives and GOOD people!
- Incidental mention: Iggs had two fathers
- Sinjir Rath Velus, aforementioned DISASTER gay, thoroughly developed before he meets and falls in love with Conder Kyl in 2016's Aftermath: Life Debt

It's WEDDING SPECTACULAR day for Lula and Zeen in a Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures special, by Daniel José Older @djolder.bsky.social & Harvey Tolibao!

This is a big Star Wars first! Other queer couples married off-page/screen in-between stories.🧵

The Battle of Jakku 5/Republic Under Siege 1 has multiple LGBTQIA+ characters but no content showing they are.

Star Wars Queery: will Luke Skywalker ever get to be bi/pan on-page again (or be a-spec!) or will other stories pretend not to see it?

Did their genetic manipulation include differing sexes? Was a gender imposed at birth, parallel to IRL experiences of intersex people?

Were they raised as the same gender but someone transitioned? For instance, raised as brothers but Am is a trans woman or as sisters but Karre is a trans man.
November 20, 2024 at 11:51 PM
Were Am and Karre always twin sister-and-brother in-universe?

Flashbacks in reverse chronological order include 2 embryos sharing a container, 1 zygote before that, suggesting Am and Karre are monozygotic/identical twins.

(Alas, I can't take screencaps or images would include those!)

Am and Karre from the 2021 Star Wars: Visions short "THE TWINS" are described as twins and clones, dubbed in English by a queer pair: Am is Alison Brie (she/her, bi, came out 2023) and Karre is Neil Patrick Harris (he/him, gay).

Not "canonical" LGBTQIA+ but 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ fans noticed and had QUEERIES... 🧵
