I don't disagree at all with the central thesis of this thread, but it is probably worth noting that none of the examples referenced (Discord, Reddit, Cohost, Bsky) are actually federated. They are all centralized services. (Bsky claims to be decentralized, but in practice is not.)

I would expect e621 to also be down if there were some sort of 'police raid'. Varka hosts both of them.

I've been playing Pokemon Unbound recently and been very happy with it. I haven't been impressed with any recent Nintendo releases, but there's a lot of good romhacks out there.
