An LGBT+ DV organization I used to volunteer with struggled financially but refused to seek state and federal money. This is precisely why - that money becomes a poison pill when Republicans are in office.

An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a definite proposition... A contradiction is just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says.

Inducing a recession and calling it a win -- I guess this is the pinnacle of "it's a feature, not a bug"

To be fair, any statement about consciousness is currently unfalsifiable. (Except maybe the Penrose-Hameroff model.) And likely to stay that way; I doubt it would be ethical to conduct experiments that could prove or disprove that "XYZ is the physical correlate of consciousness"

Isn't this largely DOA because of Bostock?

This interpretation is insane. The Good Samaritan is not some impossibly angelic being. He helps another person who was mugged without regard for where they came from. Quite an achievable standard.

Doesn't having your content monetized mean you are literally paid to produce said content? And does he not produce political content?

Elon announced a similar change for Twitter. Amazing how these decisions come down the pike *right after the election*. Expect it to be reversed in four years especially if it looks like Democrats might win.

I often read reviews
* before buying a video game, an appliance, or clothing
* after I've read a book or watched a movie or series
I don't usually pick books based on reviews, it's often because I like the author. But for games it helps to know if it's buggy, for clothing if it is true to size.

When reading reviews before buying something I will seek out positive and negative reviews because it's helpful to see what people say did or didn't work for them. Both aspects can be very helpful when making a decision.

I must say I really enjoyed the retrospective commentary during December! Was nice to revisit some of the older stories and jokes and read your present-day reflections on them.

Happy new year!

Maybe we are just going through one of those times where people want entertainment that is more escapist.

So, a huge new market for tirzepatide opens up at the same time that the FDA says it's no longer in shortage, effectively shutting off the compounding route that millions of patients used to access this medicine. Let's see how this plays out.
