This is coming from someone who is broadly socialist, but not inherently anti-capitalist; we have become obsessed with strictly following narrow ideologies outlined by people who have been dead for more than a century, instead of adapting those ideas in a more modern context.

It attempts to; subjectivity is not an ideology, it is an inherent law emergent from the nature of our existence, and to pretend that any person can be truly objective is naive. We can ignore the context of what socialism has become in the past century, or we can move forward.

If you don't already know them, you would probably like Zero 7.

Universal bereavement: an inspiring achievement.

Jaco Pastorius, Donald Byrd, Bud Powell, Bob James, Oscar Peterson, Miles Davis, etc: Jazz musicians tend to stick around for a long time. Oscar Peterson and Miles Davis for sure belong on the list, though.

And if we're allowing Roy Orbison, James Jamerson was still relevant in the 90s through samples, even though he died in 83.

Warren Zevon? His 1969 album wasn't too popular, but it was a good start. He's admittedly not super well-known in the mainstream, though.

Isaac Hayes is a good shout.

Yeah, that's Benson. I'll wait for the list to fill out a bit more before I say any more. I'm curious to see what other people say.

George Benson is one of my favorite guitarists; if you like him, check out Misayoshi Takana for a more Jazz-Samba fusion vibe.

George Benson and Carlos Santana are definitely both worth considering. music.youtube.com/watch?v=vz7J...

Elton John arguably; George Clinton and Herbie Hancock definitely, and they were both playing sold-out shows in the 1950s as well--- Herbie Hancock was soloing for the Chicago Philharmonic at seven, and he was making fantastic albums even into the 2000s.

Mate, he wouldn't be so grumpy if he could actually get some dick. You can tell he hasn't had any action for years.

"Yeah, how dare he not have his headlights on in the middle of the day. And he totally wasn't wearing a seatbelt." Oh... wait, he was wearing a seatbelt, the stop was illegal, and so whatever evidence they found in his car is inadmissible in court. Go suck on some fishing lures, you sweaty toad.

Did someone named Karen also try to assassinate the king of England? What a strange world we live in.

I know I still have it because I saw it within the past year, but I have no idea where it is.

Damn, I remember having one of those in the house when I was a kid.

I mean, up until that one 'Guy' in the early 1600s, Guy was just a name; it's still pretty commonly used in countries like France and Belgium.

The turtles are on turtles and have turtles on them; it's really just set theory if you think about it.

"He's an interesting character. It seems like he shoots himself in the foot every single day and gets more popular by doing it. It's the weirdest. It's like [Kurt] Vonnegut: Everything that shouldn't happen is happening." What about that makes you think he's a Trump supporter?

We really need to stop attacking well-meaning allies for expressing frustration. If you attack Hank for this, that is a fundamental and frightening lapse in empathy; Hank is not perfect, he is human, and he is a force for good, even if you don't always agree with him; I know I certainly don't.
