This feels a little insane, but I am really liking this design pattern so far. Im not making final assets but I'm coding the systems in order. My save/load system and main menus are almost done for #StellarHarvest #Stardust, then off to in-game menus.

After getting some more experience under my belt, I've started fresh on #Stardust. Still really need to lock in a name and get a slash screen together. But I'm starting at the beginning and building the game manager, menu, save/load, etc systems first.

#WeDidItReddit. #HonkPursuit is submitted to the #TheIndieDen jam. First jam and time I've uploaded or exported a game. It's got plenty of rough edges. But you can play it now in frantic or chillcore mode.

Still so much to do. I've been trying to get as many of the systems feeling right first and I'm going to try to windmill slam some sound effects and multiple level designs in last minute tomorrow 😬Almost "done" with #HonkPursuit though.

Barely a "game" at this point. But I think I'll have something to submit for my first jam. This is definitely the most I've learned in the shortest time. Making the duck animations and flaps is probably next for #HonkPursuit.

Im very bad at making platformers. So now its a flyer. Infinite stuff to do still before the deadline for #HonkPursuit. Redid the splash screen, but I need to redo all the art and add enemies/obstacles/moving things/goose attacks/goose ai. Oof-da

Getting more work done on #HonkPursuit. Got player/goose hitboxes and the loss condition/screen in. Need to improve the goose (Officer Geese Waddlespoon) AI a lot and figure out other ways to make the platforming challenging and interesting.

This is largely still placeholder assets. But we've got a goose and I made the movement much more responsive. Lots of work to be done on the honkin AI. In the end you will lose if it touches you. Like a lava wall that you can juke.

Brick by brick. We've got some basic dialog between each attack and some basic attack effects! The big thing was all the infrastructure to make it a lot more stable and easy to add to. Next up will be adding animations onto each attack.

Have an attack system slowly coming together now. Adding dialog in. Trying to manage the async nature of firing off attack animations and dialogs and ui updates.

Up next is probably adding in a basic attack animation.

It's coming together, piece by piece.

We've got 2 stand-in monsters to test with. A monster species system, a monster/encounter generator, an encounter table so you can set the monsters/levels/% for any area, and cleaned up some menus!

Small progress, but we've got a button now with different states, testing out sound effects, and about to start on the battle system. Worked on some ground textures, but still need to put them in the tilemap. Oh, and I think we've got a theme 🪄💀

Its been a while, but we're working on a new project to get our bearings. Not sure we're its going to go, but we're working on a vertical slice first for a creature collector. Ignore the random assets. Working on core stuff like dialog, walking, changing scenes, save/load.

Finally back to it after the holidays. Got my inventory hotbar working better and I can set the active slot! Keymapping in Godot is so easy too. Up next is probably rewriting the dictionary for your inventory so that it respects the stack limit and can contain duplicates.

Wasn't anything crazy, just had my state machine screwed up, but here's my character sprite spinning around endlessly instead of being idle 😅

I've been really busy with the holidays. But I rebuilt the project from scratch now that I know a bit more about what I'm doing in #Godot.

I still need to reimplement the use item/tool system so I can go mining again, but I did figure out how to make an inventory hotbar!

Trying out the new rocks and ground textures for #Stardust. Not the final product, but it'll be a lot nicer to look in the meantime.

For the life of me, I can't get my inventory count to not be under the item, but that is quickly becoming a tomorrow problem. lol
