On Tuesday, President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. military had killed six people in a strike on a boat that, Trump said, was “trafficking narcotics.”
Trump's boat strikes are killing potentially innocent civilians. They must be stopped.
There is no credible factual or legal argument that the United States is engaged in an armed conflict with any drug cartel under international law.

There is a playbook.
We need to call it what it is: a president using government coercion to silence voices he doesn't agree with is authoritarianism, plain and simple.
It's the Orbán playbook, the Putin playbook, and now the Trump playbook. And it should alarm every American.
