Working on some depression/WW2 recipes. Here is chocolate Wacky cake, with a cooked fudge frosting. Why wacky? The cake does not contain dairy products (though the frosting does have milk and butter). You also mix it directly in the pan, rather than a bowl to transfer into a pan.

At the original pantry Cafe in DTLA, 1st time here! Sadly no longer open 24 hours, but still nifty to soak up the history. Got a window seat by the kitchen and marveling at the volume of bacon being placed on the grill.

Fervently hoping The Chaos Incarnate will leave the tree alone. Most of the ornaments may survive if he decides to knock it down (though I doubt they will be ok if they go through the Jaws of Death).

When we first got our ACD mix, I saw them called Velcro dogs. My reaction: well, I've had a leonberger and a corgi, they were velcro.
This guy. Attached does not begin to describe him. His fave sleey spot is on my lap. I'm slightly worried when Faire rolls around.
