I think drapery becomes a very particular form of display for a sculptor - a kind of problem solving - esp when there's the opportunity for a contrast between a ruff (stiff, regular) & skirts (potential for the evocation of an actual body, volume, mass, gravity, which you don't get with a ruff!)

I think that the replies up-thread are much more knowledgeable than I am!! (am OK on fashion and dress fabrics but from the sound of it these are likely heavier?)

I have MANY thoughts about such things and have written about them a bit in the final chapter 'Fold' of enormobook... (they're one of my favourite things; that one is more realistic than some, although there's still a lot of stylisation).

oh totally. I have done a LOT of proofing in recent months... A pleasure, it's a neat game! (I got 80% going in completely cold and most of that was just minuscule/majuscule calls 😎)
