I vehemently disagreed with large swathes of his politics, but I never doubted his patriotism and commitment to wanting a better future for the US.

The fact that they were more than willing to put party before country in allowing Trump to run as a Republican in 2016 was the final barrier to their complete moral capitulation.

The GOP as we knew it truly died with McCain.
