This is great, but I can't help but think if this was National reacting to a move from Labour they would be driving a hoarding covered bus up the steps of parliament. I don't have the answer as to how, but you need to be louder.

They will win again because they can message. They are already campaigning it seems.

Both my kids did NCEA in the last 10 years, and yeah, I found it ok, they both passed with good marks, which is better than I did under the previous system.
August 5, 2025 at 9:19 AM
I was (just) over twenty years ago, I don't really remember that one.
August 5, 2025 at 8:48 AM
Yeah, hard to argue with that. Labour did the whole "review" thing and then did nothing, no regulations, no push for additional supermarkets. We were with Soupy as much as we could be, always suspicious about their demise.
August 5, 2025 at 8:46 AM
Messaging is currently not great form the "party of labour".

Food is a tricky one, it can benefit from competition, but it also harms it, ie bad additives etc... Otherwise, yes, we lowered taxes to give more money to a few, then sold them our assets. Privatizing wealth was a huge mistake.

I am still recovering from New Years eve 1988, so can't be that long ago.
August 5, 2025 at 8:37 AM
Don't listen to him, of course they were only 20 years ago.
August 5, 2025 at 8:36 AM
I like that, kind of well regulated capitalism. I would also say, anything that is a necessity, and would not benefit from privatization should not be in the "For profit space" such as education, health and electricity\energy.
August 5, 2025 at 8:30 AM
I like to discuss things. I pointed out that Labour should represent Labour, because it's in the name, and you made some rude comment about National implying I was wrong, so I gave you the history of the name. I am not upset, but I will reply to rude with rude.
August 5, 2025 at 8:27 AM
You were rude first. Sorry, read back. So living in reality, and not fantasy makes me a dick. So be it. Sorry, when people are just wrong, I will point it out.
August 5, 2025 at 7:59 AM
I don't think it's bad, it's done some good, but like all "isms" it has been corrupted.
August 5, 2025 at 7:57 AM
What would you replace it with? That would not also be susceptible to corruption?
August 5, 2025 at 7:57 AM
I never claimed it wasn't. And please, what this 'Pals on linked in crap"?
August 5, 2025 at 7:55 AM
But we can't have a top tax rate inline with the rest of the OECD.
August 5, 2025 at 7:42 AM
So you were never interested in discussion, just pointless comments. Sad really, I like discussion. I made a correct point, and you tried to belittle me with your reply. What's the point in that? Why are you not open to discussion and learning?
August 5, 2025 at 7:40 AM
It should never have been sold into private ownership, and should have been kept opened until we no longer needed it's products. Which can't come soon enough.
August 5, 2025 at 7:37 AM
Surely no one has blocked you?
Yes, we moved our pollution to another country, yes, very much capitalism, but many saw that as a win for the environment, which I didn't. Pointing out every system is open to corruption has got me blocked.
August 5, 2025 at 7:21 AM
Was Marsden point closing something you approved of?
August 5, 2025 at 7:08 AM
How does that negate my claim that corruption is the issue?
August 5, 2025 at 7:02 AM
You know that's bollocks.
August 5, 2025 at 6:56 AM
What did I get wrong?
August 5, 2025 at 6:54 AM
Might be true, but should be done with the help of the main party that represents labour, not instead of.
