Loïc Marleix: 18 basic shapes and dots. Shapes are important for pronunciation. Each shape symbol related to an emotion. Each open circle is a person. Orientation is a person. Dot means existence: dot inside means me, outside is someone else. #FaceInterface

Loïc Marleix: 2 years ago, tried to make LoCoS accessible again. Vectorized every symbol as accurately as possible, make pixel-perfect on grid. Ota said "Your project is great but your grid is wrong!!" Ota sent documentation to explain. #FaceInterface

Loïc Marleix: Yukio Ota studied at Tama Art University, traveled around Italy when in 1964 at Venice Academy of Fine Arts. 1964 Tokyo Olympics used pictograms for international communication. Taught at Tokyo Zokei University. 1971 presented LoCoS at UNESCO. Published in 1973. #FaceInterface

Anushah Hossain: ISCII - analog to ASCII, Indian Standard Code for Information Exchange. Meant to represent major Indian scripts. Very expansive scope. Multi-script standard, for scripts derived from Brahmi, easy transliteration across scripts. #FaceInterface

Eason Lu: Local practitioners of Nüshu are not pleased with the developments. He Yanxin (original practitioner) refused to create any new Nüshu artifacts or engage with scholars. "The Nüshu scholars are striving to 'save' isn't what she 'used'." Problem is writing-centered approach. #FaceInterface

John Berry: Different scripts can be treated in different but parallel ways. 30 years ago there wasn't a Chữ Nôm font, something was put together specifically for this book of poetry, it mostly worked. #FaceInterface

Min-Young Kim: Distance of text is a challenge, placement within a crowded space, sometimes over-layered with other things. Text can appear super close and you have to walk backwards (IRL) to read it, but this is hard in a tiny Japanese appartment. #FaceInterface
