The new Safe Standing area opens today at last, over 34 years since the last standing tickets on the Kop were sold.

The area gives fans a choice to stand at games with the club’s blessing, and the hope is that this will also add to the atmosphere for the benefit of all at the ground #bskyblades

Today’s the last day for Kop season ticket holders that want to move into the new Safe Standing area to do so before it’s opened up to STHs in other stands.

Should spaces remain, these will be available from tomorrow morning for anyone looking to move their season ticket across #bskyblades

Great to chat to fans that braved the rain to drop by the Kop this evening. Well done to @sufc-fab.bsky.social for adding the extra session.

All ready for Saturday’s game, the away section complete too. If you’re a STH looking to move in from other stands, email safe.standing@sufc.co.uk

The new Safe Standing section will give fans the opportunity to stand for the full game while watching United for the first time since the Kop was redeveloped.

It also doubles up as a clothes rail.

Welcome to @sufc-fab.bsky.social who are now a step ahead of the club in having an active presence here!

The FAB have been a key partner in bringing safe standing to Bramall Lane, and recently announced a number of new members and an updated Fan Engagement Strategy www.sufc.co.uk/fans/fan-eng...

Latest snaps on the new Safe Standing area – it’s nearly there!

The club is contacting STHs on the Kop imminently – aware that some had notice yesterday, should hopefully be done for all Kop STHs by the end of the day to help facilitate moves in/out of the area

Some easy visual markers of where the edge of the safe standing area will be:

1. From the back, it’s down to (but not including) the white seats that mark the top of the SUFC lettering

2. NN is the last of the rows that has the slightly wider space on the gangways as you walk down

Our trip to Stoke City on Friday means another opportunity for United fans to enjoy a new safe standing area.

Installed over last summer, safe standing is in place across the whole of the upper South stand for home fans, and the upper section of the South-East corner for away fans #bskyblades

Though safe standing isn’t in place at the Kassam for you very lucky souls there tomorrow, that might change by the time we next head to Oxford.

The U’s will hear this summer whether their new stadium in Kidlington gains planning approval. 25% of its 16,000 capacity will be safe standing

The SGSA’s licensed standing regulations require any provision in the home areas to be reflected in the away end too.

This will mean sections of the upper tier of the West Stand will also become safe standing areas as a result of the changes.

It’s not just a single home area to be converted though though – it’s double.

The westerly end of their North Stand is set to have a section mixed in to the safe standing brew that they have planned.

The scene of United’s win yesterday is one of the latest clubs to be set to introduce safe standing.

This follows pressure from the safety authorities to address areas of persistent standing. Up to 5,000 seats are reportedly set to be converted this summer in several areas – such as their Kop.

Another enjoyable visit to Loftus Road for #bskyblades at the weekend.

QPR’s safe standing design is one that we’ve highlighted to United on a number of occasions because it makes the most of the space that older stands have on each row, just like at Bramall Lane.

Kenilworth Road is the next safe standing ground for United.

We were one of the 1st sets of fans to enjoy the refitted Oak Road end after their works last yr.

Luton opted to do this despite their move to the new Power Court stadium in the future, which will also include safe standing #bskyblades

It’s another new safe standing area for #bskyblades on Saturday as United head to Pride Park.

Phased in from Dec 2023 while Derby were in L1, it’s currently the largest safe standing capacity in the Championship at just over 5,100 – of which around 2,300 are in the South East corner for away fans

United head to the Swansea.com Stadium tonight, another venue with safe standing for the 1st time this yr.

Last summer, they introduced it in the NE (~1,400 home capacity) & North (~500 away) stands.

This followed dialogue with the Swansea City Supporters' Trust, local council & SGSA #bskyblades

A good bit of the opening statement from the new owners on the importance of the fans. While there are lots of potential areas to invest in, there is too a real opportunity here to invest in the fans and look at ways to enhance the atmosphere.

Safe standing has to be a part of that investment.

A trip to the Welsh capital in store for #bskyblades on Saturday.

The Cardiff City Stadium was one of the 5 grounds that were trialled 3 years ago. Just over 1,300 standing capacity in the home end.

In this familiar away end in the corner, nearly 2,200 of the 2,875 tickets are safe standing.
December 20, 2024 at 10:13 AM
70% highlighted they wanted this placed in Singers Corner in the stadium.

The club worked closely with Coventry City Council’s SAG and the SGSA over the past year, successfully trialling safe standing earlier this year.

Over the summer, 2,732 seats converted – including 900 in the away end.

The campaign has brought together a number of voices in the United family to call for safe standing at the Lane – presenting a proposal to the club 4 yrs ago, and continuing to push for this to be adopted by the club hierarchy.
