I get they needed to communicate "Nerd" in a split second visually, but man that future kinda sucks

You may be able to get an out of network exception. They will fight you for it, but they are required to cover specialties within a certain radius of their patients. If they have no one nearby then they need to pay out of network

Not to say ARNP's are useless, but they shouldn't be completely replacing doctors in people's care on a long term basis. They're great for triage, and then in theory when a problem is over their heads it goes to a doctor, but then the doctor's schedule is filled up with paperwork.

This leads to other problems as well. Folks doing it for pay usually end up in specialty fields because it pays significantly more than primary care, so there's a shortage of actual primary doctors and we end up filling the gap with nurse practitioners.
