Ya so far our table hasn’t even gotten a partial success.

That and there’s probably going to be a mix of easy, medium, and hard tests.

Also, sometimes it might make sense for the base outcome of a montage to be partial success or even failure and then the higher tiers are for if the PCs roll really well. Some montages can just be “how badly does this go?”

And this is absolutely the take to have. The Draw Steel community is freakin awesome. Most likely every MCDM fundraiser will fund for the foreseeable future. Some 3rd party fundraisers failing is not a failure on the community or MCDM. That said, I really hope y’all fund. Good luck!

It’s obvious that Matt wants 3rd party stuff to do well because it’s an indicator that the Draw Steel ecosystem is healthy. Don’t understand why people are pissed of at MCDM for selling things people want.

I’ve backed a 3rd party adventure and a supplement for quest hooks with crafting. Both funded for like 1/6 the funding goal of this one and I don’t have a need for a campaign setting yet, even though I think what they’re doing is awesome. I feel like you’re placing blame on the community unfairly.

If you go to the most recent community creations vid on the MCDM channel, there’s a link on the doc to someone who made two specializations. I think ice and I forget the second one. Neither were ones mentioned in the Heroes book though.

I can tell that are big fans Matt Colville and Quinns Quest.

I continue to love that you shout out things created by independent creators in the Draw Steel videos. I feel like I always find someone new to follow or at least check out.

Interesting perspective. In my DS group, none of the players feel like the main character or that they started as huge heroes.

My Elementalist is an ex-researcher/librarian hunting the man who stole his books. Turns out the man has joined up with BBEG and so now I’m drawn into this bigger issue.

IIRC there are spellcaster dueling rules in Dungeon Crawl Classics but I’ve never run anything more than a level 0 funnel and half a level one adventure, in which it didn’t come up, so I can’t speak to if they are fun or not.

I still like DnD, but every time my group wants to long rest after 2 fights to make sure we have spell slots back, my heart aches for Draw Steel a little more.

In many other games, it is tactically the smartest move to rest after every fight even if it doesn’t make narrative sense.

It is then up to the DM to impose the consequences narratively because there is no mechanical disadvantage to long resting. This can feel punitive by the DM if not done well.

Exactly! I think I went backwards. I chose the name Dust (seemed appropriate as an ex-librarian/researcher and a current void specialist) and then tried to imagine a poetic-ish setting where you would find dust.
