I select "Light Mode" in Tahoe and the header "Appearance" fades away, while the Back/Forward buttons remain in dark mode.

The slop is everywhere. Even Google with infinite budget can't make a dropdown work.

Today I learned that 50% is far less than 47.4%. This is the future.

Usability ranting. You see, Apple isn't the design champion you'd expect it to be.

How do I play this movie? No play button. The prominent button is iTunes Extras. Doesn't sound like what I want. This isn't even the iTunes app, this is TV.app.

Oh I have to HOVER the thumbnail 💩

I think exponential growth is probably one of the biggest myths that people in technology believe.

Most of the time the case is of an "S" curve (see image), which is just a very slow "switch", from off to on. Essentially a describing tech adoption and refining. LLMs will not be different.

Usability things.

This cable you must lift, DO NOT PULL. The other cable you must pull, DO NOT LIFT. You must know these rules that no one told you about, otherwise you might break the equipment.

And other hardware keeps copying Apple because they assume that Apple must know what they're doing. Here's a simulation of me at night trying to find the headphone cable receptacle on the new Bose QC versus old Bose QC.

Everyday I have this problem on the new. Never had on the old.

The edges of these receptacles are also too sharp. If they had smoothened the entrance a little bit, it would automatically guide the connector when you have small misalignments.

While we're at it. This corner is too sharp, it hurts my thumb. It's been like this for more than a decade already. Couldn't you smoothen it a tiny bit?

One would assume that after decades of tweaking the same hardware and software, the MacBook Pro would be great to use. Yet, this is what I get when I try to pin Airdrop in Finder on a MacBook Pro bought 4 days ago.

I should write a blog post on 100 different reasons why JSX is so bad. My list keeps growing...

(Note: I fully understand the cause of the bug below. I just don't think this should be a gotcha to begin with)

These are my colored e-ink computers I made for displaying weather and calendar. I bought them from pimoroni.com and coded it in Python. The idea was to "decentralize my phone", I got tired of having *everything* on the phone. These update once a day.

I love it, been using them over a year.
