Whey can't both be true? The government and the people in it aren't a monolith — my guess is the hatred and sadism are 100% real _and_ being used to achieve ulterior goals.

Ridiculous, 7 days is too sort at any time of the year, let alone through holidays... Some days ago I sent out a few review invitations — and made sure to add 20 days to the usual deadlines.
