While the Pope shakes hands with Herzog & the government supports genocide, all the people stand for Palestine. Kids are occupying secundary schools, even primary school children rallied for Palestine on the first school day. Rome's mayor had to cut ties with Israeli water managment company Mekorot.

Besides the big demos, actions and protests happen everyday. Yesterday morning a hundred researchers rallied in front of the Italian Research Council (CNR) requesting to stop all scientific partnership with Israel.

What happened yesterday night, October 1, was maybe even more impressive. A rally that had been called only one hour before, became an astonishing crowd of maybe 20,000 or more, marching towards the city center at 23, midnight, 1am.

Last week, Sept22, we flooded it with tens of thousands of people, in what was by then the most impressive demonstration of the last decade. We already had the sense that something big was happening. Rivers of people, a sea of Palestinian flags.

The square - a huge esplanade in front of Termini central station, named after 500 Italian colonial soldiers killed by African anticolonial forces in Dogali - was already occupied by a permanent encampment for Palestine. They had renamed it "Piazza Gaza". Decolonize street names!

As soon as the #GlobalSumudFlotilla was illegally attacked by the Israeli army in international waters, at around 8.30 pm, a call to action circulated everywhere.
Everyone I know left all they were doing and reached the city center. All ages, all kinds of people.
