The administration’s changes to the federal BEAD broadband program guidelines will actually have this effect. Unless rural households can somehow afford $120/mo. satellite internet service.

Ten million, but how many are institutional subscribers? UW-Madison libraries provide access to NYT for students, faculty, and staff. Do they count as subscribers? If so, I will go out on a limb and say only a tiny fraction actually read it.
