just killing time on this bullshit website till they let me go back to traumatizing children in the woods
also, even for that crowd: your job as a politician is to win their vote. if they don't care about fascism, that sucks. bummer.

win their vote anyway, then work to stop fascism. votes from shitty people count just as much as votes from saints.

you're explicitly assuming that every Trump voter knows and believes that he's a fascist and also dislikes immigrants, which is entirely my point.

there are people who genuinely have not read a news article since 2016. they're voting based purely on vibes and promises. they are reachable.
March 16, 2025 at 5:18 PM
this has been my big contention over the past few days with bsky libs.

not every Trump voter is a hateful bigot. there are a lot of people who don't have strong political opinions one way or the other and will vote for whoever tells them what they want to hear. writing them off is how you lose.

absolutely! and i know character limits force broad strokes, i was just curious if there was a bankruptcy announcement incoming lol

that's so unfortunate as i like their app a lot. every tech company eventually destroys their own product in search of more profit and it's endlessly frustrating.
March 16, 2025 at 4:41 AM
Anecdotally when the conversation has come up with, say, random coworkers, I've literally never heard a strong opinion one way or the other. There are a LOT of people out there who could be easily swayed by a strong and direct message.
March 16, 2025 at 4:33 AM
thank you!

idk if that means struggling as a company per se, as the URL still makes them the default for the general public (theoretically a far more lucrative market than nerds who were on lichess already) and as tech has demonstrated they can push consumers pretty far. but yeah that's not great 😬
March 16, 2025 at 4:31 AM
Idk about lines being drawn too deep, at least not in the general public. Most people don't really care *that* much about things that don't impact them; they might poll or vote a certain way because the message makes logical sense to them, but that doesn't mean a better message won't win them back.
March 16, 2025 at 4:15 AM
how do you know? they're privately owned so financials aren't public but they claim to be doing well profit-wise, and anecdotally it seems like they have a bigger userbase than ever though i obviously don't have access to accurate numbers on that.

(not challenging you, im just curious)

!!

SO much of the post-election messaging has focused on what people *should* care about, rather than what they *do* care about.

You don't have to compromise on core values, you just have to meet people where they are. Capitalize on their selfishness. Show them how you will make THEIR life better.
March 16, 2025 at 3:13 AM
Are you an elected Democrat official or party advisor? If not, I'm not fucking talking about you.

If you truly don't believe that elected officials have any responsibility to talk to or educate potential voters, you're too far gone for help. Enjoy losing every election ever.
March 16, 2025 at 2:49 AM
ALSO the Democrats aren't even, like, listening to those "young men" and what they care about. They just have this idea in their head that if they shade women and wokism enough they'll somehow convince everyone that they are cool and trustworthy.
March 15, 2025 at 1:40 PM
Lmao guy refuses to admit that the Democrats have any room for improvement but also thinks this will all be over in four years

You're a dog returning to your vomit dude, grow up. "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result" that's you rn

Yeah and once team ownership gets a taste for what "marketable talent" does for their bottom line you are all set!

No more wasting money on useless boring utility players when you can throw 85% of your payroll at two stars and devote pennies to the rest of the roster, recipe for success every time

I deleted my account right after Musk took over cause I was so pissed about the downward trend in basic usability, and it has only gotten worse.

I also don't understand how anyone uses that site whether they care about politics or not.

Wow, this is the most informative view by far. This context really shows how central this point has been in the stock's recent history.

If your disabled friends are genuinely saying that they need to hang out at your favorite Nazi bar because of their disability, the fact is that your disabled friends are also Nazis.
