I am so tired of this bullshit trope that justifies our crappy pay and tons of non-paid work. Another year with no cost of living increase which is a PAY CUT.
My son loved being a TA in college and thought about becoming a teacher. I told him No Way! He passed my pay in year 3.

This is what it is like to be a teacher in 2024. I am so sorry that your profession, like mine, is on the front line of idiots who understand little yet spew opinions that are so far from reality it is scary.
