Sorry, for the confusion - I wasn't sure if NOAA observers were still overextending the term "finning" like we were encouraged to do in the past.

I stare at numbers and maps until the water quality improves.

It's been a while since I was an observer on tuna and swordfish long line boats (12-years?), but I think the term "finning" was applied if fins were cut from sharks taken whole for whatever reason. Do you know if that is still the case?
