From the bench this week: this banded murmuration zoetrope ring! This is the prototype. I’ll be fine tuning before releasing it into my upcoming collection. Really pleased with it so far!

I’m opening commissions! For the first time ever, you can work with me to create a one-of-a-kind piece of jewellery in recycled sterling silver — a pendant, ring, or brooch made just for you (or someone you love). Slots are limited, so DM me if you’re curious! I’d love to make something with you!

Friends! I’m so excited to finally share this piece with you! (had to wait for the commissioner to surprise their partner.) The learning curve was steep! I’ve never made a brooch before! I'll be re-making this piece as a statement necklace for my upcoming murmuration collection so watch this space!

I am THRILLED with the way this ring turned out! It represents a huge learning curve and about 16 hours of labour. It’s the most technically challenging piece I’ve made yet and I’m so proud. Murmuration Ring. It will be for sale in my forthcoming collection in a few month’s time. #handmadejewelry

Yes, well. There’ll be no living with me now. 🤣 The solder gods were with me today. Piece needs more work but I didn’t melt any birbs and I’m so pleased with the result! I’ll patina the interior so the birds stand out! Pendant or statement ring? What do you think? I can’t decide. #handmadejewelry

I’m honestly so surprised I managed to pull this off! Look how tiny! And I managed to texture them semi-realistically! Fingertip for size reference. If i manage to solder these on their base today without melting them, I will become an insufferable human being. 🤣 #handmadejewelery

Per my recent eye appointment, gramma’s reached ‘a pair of readers’ years old. Keepin’ it specsy over here with a second pair of glasses and hard candies in my purse.

Packing up my first ever silver jewellery order (!!) and trying to be cool about it but absolutely failing. 🤩 Can’t believe things I made WITH MY HANDS are heading off to their new homes! Huge thanks to the people who made this milestone possible. More pieces coming soon! #silversmith #indieJeweler

I am just OVER THE MOON excited to launch my flagship silver pendant design! She’s the first piece of jewellery I’m putting out in the world and I love what she represents. A moment of peace, joy, and self-love. Just what we all need to give ourselves right now. 🥰🥰 stacybias.net/product-cate...

1st day at my new jewellery studio desk rental and y’all! I can’t believe how well this turned out. Copper prototype for a piece I’ll eventually make in silver. Still needs refining and patina but I’m so pleased. Might enamel the back to make it wearable as it’d be a shame to waste it. #silversmith

Inspired by Abigail Lamb's 2025 manifestation illustration, I drew up my own Project Wishlist. Hoping for more hand-drawn projects, collaborative, participant-led processes, joyful and/or LGTBQIA+ themes, & empathy-building work in 2025! More important than ever to be intentional in work & life. ❤️

Just signed the contract on my new silversmithing desk share in Glasgow! Met my deskmate over WhatsApp and figured out our schedules align perfectly for sharing. *And* my basic tool setup arrived this morning. SO EXCITED to get started! Training wheels are off! Many ideas & so much practicing to do!

Fridays are my jewellery skillbuilding day. I spent today designing this murmuration piece to be saw-pierced from a single sheet of silver. It feels like the perfect metaphor for how I’ve been feeling the last few days. We’re all made of the same stuff and we’re breathtaking when we move together.

In 2024, I focused on mastering 2D character rigging, inc. lip sync, blink rigs, & 180° turns. This lets me create more realistic, relatable characters. Relatability builds connection, and connection holds interest! When we care about characters, we invest. Looking forward to learning more in 2025!

In October, I made the manatee pendant; by December, the wild swimmer. In 2 months, I learned to work at half the size-a huge challenge! Smaller pieces melt more easily & steadying a ball burr at 25k RPM isn’t easy. I’m proud of my first year’s progress and excited for what’s next! #Silversmithing
December 13, 2024 at 10:42 AM
Y’all! I am so proud of myself! This was difficult. From mockup to completion, making this wild swimming pendant took about 16 hours & a lot of trial and error. It’s not perfect but it’s better technique than the last piece & working smaller is harder. It’s such a joy to hold it finished in my hand!
