Sadly this one is only available as an audiobook or eBook, and I am a print snob.

I added the Broken Earth triology to the eternal library queue. I will get to it eventually. Book 1 is currently all checked out.

Exactly. I call this misogyny "I want a female president...but not that one." Because clearly Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris weren't enough.

Like we didn't already have SIX different women running in a primary and have had the opportunity to vote for two different women in general elections. I call this misogyny, "I want a female president but not that one."

Should I start with this one? Broken Earth is getting a lot of mentions.

People on this feed - I have never read a book by this author. What book or book series should I start with? I do read some SF and fantasy (more sci-fi these days) but I am a bit of a book slut that likes all genres.

My last principal was a toxic, very mediocre Black man. I’m convinced he paid someone to do all of his assignments for his Ed.D. because he was dumb AF. If he got through somehow, I know you can do it!! (Everyone else I know with the degree is intelligent and hardworking so he’s an anomaly).

I graduated high school in 1993. I took Honors English all 4 years. I remember reading 3 Shakespeare plays, Antigone, Fields of Fire, Siddhartha, A Clockwork Orange, Watership Down,
Beowulf, Grendel, The Canterbury Tales, Once & Future King, Brave New World, Huck Finn, A Tale of Two Cities, etc.

I am now teaching middle school English. My 6th graders are supposed to be reading 3 novels this year: Bud, Not Buddy, The One and Only Ivan, and Space Case. But, I'm here to tell you...most of them didn't do their homework. 😢

Must be nice. My students tell me how much they hate reading / my class every day. Usually every hour every day.

They are good friends IRL from what I have read. They started in Congress at the same time, have security backgrounds, and it's awesome that they will both be Governors at the same time too.

I want to have a basic skills lesson but I don’t know where and when to fit it in - how to use email, how to use Canvas, how to use PowerSchool (where their grades are posted), etc.

As a middle school English teacher, I must commend you for not putting "67" "six seven" in the headline. Signed, Teachers Everywhere

I teach struggling readers in middle school (HMH's Read 180 program) and I think normally I read 1-2 books a month for fun but now...it depends. Full-time job + grad school so yeah.

My goal was to read 25 books for fun this year. I'm on #15. I am a full-time teacher (middle school English now) and part-time grad student.

We loved Season 1, but this season has been a slog. We have 3 more episodes to go before finishing off Season 2. I am on the fence about a Season 3. I have noticed the lack of hype around it this year. It could be just a sophomore slump though. Hard to tell yet.

The struggle is real. Lucy woke me up 15 minutes before my alarm today.
