Nerdy 👨‍❤️‍👨 asexual cat & dog owner in Atlanta. Former bowler and long-distance cyclist. I doubt anything I say is interesting.

Discourse? In this dystopia? I use this as an escape from the real world, so don’t expect me to doom- or angry-scroll with you.
It's officially flannel sheet season.

Some of the scent names in Bath & Body Works' men's section are... questionable, at best:

- Adrenaline
- Football Season
- Distiller's Gin
- Whiskey Reserve
- Noir (also, Vanilla Noir)
- Bourbon
- Whiskey Toast

Someone's dad must've had a drinking problem.

“Wicked: For Good” is fine, definitely part two of a good movie. And it contains the best Jeff Goldblum jump-scare since The Fly.

The little nerdy gasp I let out when I returned "Children of Time" via Overdrive and saw that its sequel, "Children of Ruin," was immediately available...

My (mom's) dog is named Stevie, after Stevie Ray Vaughan.
On a walk today, we met a neighbor whose dog is also a Stevie, named after Stevie Nicks.

Now we just need to meet dogs named after Stevie Wonder and Stevie Winwood, and we'll have our all-star band lineup.

Watching Wicked (part one) again, I was struck by just how funny Ariana Grande is as Galinda. Sure, a lot of it comes down to how the role is written and has been performed onstage, but she has a knack for little details and flourishes that work very well in the cinema.

I’m loath to give a bad rating and a bad tip, but this is customer service 101: if I get in your car and am immediately smacked by the smell of cigarette smoke, you are doing it wrong.
First Uber in years and it reeks of cigarette smoke 💕

You know you married the right person when you both forget your own anniversary date, literally twice within 48 hours of making dinner plans.

I love you so much @st33b.bsky.social . Happy 9 years of marriage! And FIFTEEN YEARS together.

I never understood why the colloquial shortening of husband is “hubby,” like the “s” contributes nothing to the relationship. If anything, it should be “hussy,” though I could get behind “huzzy.”

Item #54000601 in how AI ruins everything: Google’s “AI Overview” reduced traffic to Stereogum by a significant margin. I feel even better about exiting Google and paying for a Stereogum subscription now! stereogum.com/2478838/ster...

Once again, I must shout from on high: needlessly restrictive password rules are counterproductive!

Just gonna put this here for anyone who needs to see it.

For your health, quit social media. (BlueSky is all I use. No Facebook, no Instagram, certainly no TikTok. I hardly even touch Reddit anymore, and I won’t go anywhere near a YouTube comments section.)

You should quit social media for good
Platforms optimized for engagement warp our politics, erode attention, and harm our wellbeing. Here’s how I minimize time on the (anti‑)social web.

Bugonia and Predator: Badlands made for quite the odd double-feature. One is thought-provoking, the other thought-suppressing. Both feature great performances and are well-crafted. I can’t believe Predator isn’t rated R, though; it is SO violent. (Also loud. very loud.)

Exciting: going on a cruise around Greece next summer.
Frightening: booking air travel to and from Athens.

It is a marvel of human ingenuity that I can hop on an airplane and be literally on the other side of the world just twelve hours later, but it sure is expensive to do so!

I sometimes worry that we, as a society, will never quite be ready for this. Nor, indeed, for this jelly.

Armin Van Buuren has released an album consisting entirely of piano and string instruments, and damn If it isn’t the loveliest thing I’ve heard in a while! (Apple Music even categorizes it as classical.) music.apple.com/us/album/pia...

How has the internet rotted your brain?

For me, “Scientifically Accurate Duck Tales” has replaced the actual “Duck Tales” theme song in my mental playback.

What’s a well-liked song you secretly loathe? And the inverse, a widely-mocked song that you (maybe secretly) actually kinda like?

I am coming out as a disliker of “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)” by C&C Music Factory.

I secretly like most of Phil Collins’ 80s output, esp. “Sussudio”
