I still think a gas or diesel generator + batteries would be the optimal solution.
But my 100% in would be more infrastructure based.
I need to feel confident I can make it from Boise to Reno without stressing about charging/range.

My "I'm 100% in" total range number for electric cars would be 600 miles, which (in real world terms) would be a round trip between my house and Chicago. This is entirely pie-in-the sky, I know, given current power densities and battery weight. But I believe it's eventually possible.
Our Kia EV9 gets about 370 miles on a single charge, which so far has been plenty for any trips we've made.
