What a rare pleasure to speak about the much neglected "Sikh Misls" . Stretching from 1710s to 1799, after which Ranjit Singh took over till 1849, this 150-year period of Sikh Rule is longer then the 77-year existence of post-independent India and newly created Pakistan !

Really enjoyed speaking at the Progressive Writers Association event in London last night on the subject of 'Majoritarian Nationalisms' which increasingly now fail to protect the rights of minorities in our much vaunted democracies......

At William Goodenough House on Tuesday 18 February (where I myself stayed as a student all those years ago) giving a talk on "How the Law Supported Slavery" in front of a super engaged audience - the place gets better and better every time I return.
