So it isn't really that Mike Howell or whoever sounds like Sephiroth-- SEPHIROTH sounds like the hierarchy that used him. Because that's what he thinks a position of strength sounds like. He's projecting how painful it is to be used this way without self awareness or real freedom from its influence.

The right wing of politics descends from monarchy and other forms of strict hierarchy-- relying on subjugated classes to automate, perpetuate the wealth (a regular person who has little wealth imagines 'stability') of a few. It also can only imagine reversals and deeply fears them.

Though there IS something to be said about how Sephiroth himself, in trying to transcend the structures he believes parasitized his will to power, replicates them. Even in his own fantasy where he is unlimited he can only imagine a reversal of subjugation and suffering, not their abolition.
