Astonishing that this #NYstate AG report on #Cuomo as governor is rarely discussed. As with all political scandals, the problem lies not just in allegations, but the willingness to investigate, address by staff. ag.ny.gov/sites/defaul...

When citizens accept the revoked rights of “others”—minorities, “radicals,” migrants, outcasts— know that citizens will eventually be targeted.
If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.

SCOOP—State Dept. now requires "enhanced" social media vetting for student visa applicants suspected of "ties to terrorist orgs/activity" or applicants who previously held a visa starting Oct. 7th, 2023.

Please note that I have a negative attitude about denying US residents, visitors and visa holders their constitutionally protected legal rights to free speech. Not sure it’s hostile but check back.

It seems #MahmoudKhalil has been arrested not on a public order warrant but for speech that somehow supports a terrorist organization. What is the case law that defines such support? Might his arrest encourage the DOJ to prosecute a new realm of odious or unpopular political views?

This was enlightening the second time too. Good to be reminded that social media is like being restricted to one stack at the library.
We would be a lot less scared of TikTok if we had control of our social media algorithms the way we do here on Bluesky.
