In a way, Iran and Venezuela are part of the same strategic calculus, & the Trump WH thinks pressure on those two adverse nodes will lead to a domino effect in their favor.

Before you get to the ultimate deadly confrontation, do federal agents have a duty to call local police if they are confronted with a traffic dispute in a municipality?

Were there federal laws that needed to be immediately enforced when the ICE officers approached the women involved? I doubt it.

You get the impression that if Aldrich Ames was head of CIA’s Russia desk today, he would have a lot less pocket money than he had in his heyday.

There probably are not any useful Russian assets to sell out anymore. And we just rely on the word of the Kremlin.
