And agreed, my take would also be yes. I think to do that we should think about the problem as autonomy to provide care being stolen from people and then sold back to them. We can be a battery for keeping people productive under capitalism, or for energy to retake those means of care.

Totally, I think the destruction of community comes from colonialism and that social work is an attempt to continue the work of the community, which capitalism increasingly tries to control and manage to its own interests

I think to be abolitionary, our efforts needs to seek to recreate and empower community capacity to do the work of caring for each other, fixing the fractures that colonial systems create.

Makes me think about how social workers often talk about ideally “working ourselves out of our jobs” by alleviating need. Seems important to talk about what that would mean. I think social work is born from the destruction of the community and recreation of its fabric on capitalist terms.
