Action is the antidote to despair. We are scientists and science-oriented people who do climate activism in NYC.
Elon Musk is a climate criminal. He has helped destroy the infrastructure of the United States that was dedicated to mitigating climate change.

That's why Scientist Rebellion members join protests against Tesla. @srti.bsky.social #TeslaTakedown

Billionaires are pollution machines.

The richest 1% of people cause as much climate-wrecking pollution as the poorest 66% of people.

Not sure what it's like where you are, but in NYC it's common for there to be TeslaTakedown protests at unlisted times.

Yesterday, for example, there was no advertised picket, but a stream of people stopped by for an hour or two.

Small protests can be disproportionately effective

Crowds were so much bigger than expected in NYC that a bunch of busses got parked on the parade route. It seems like the plan was to just close one lane of traffic??? Anyway, that wasn't realistic. 5th Ave was flooded with people.

Seeing photos of big protests in big cities and small protests in little towns across America is inspiring!

The current administration is trying to destroy the federal government, enrich billionaires, and end climate action. We can't let them succeed.

Consider today a beautiful warmup.

The atmosphere was great- peaceful and determined. And there were lots of people who were obviously not protest regulars, which is so good to see.

Today's #hand-off protest in NYC was big- much bigger than expected. The closure of 5th Avenue was clearly unplanned because busses got stuck and had to be parked!

The Albany train station is looking spiffy these days.

By making it un-fun to buy and own a Tesla, individuals can participate in this crumbling.

Which is a good thing to do, because the Musk/Trump administration is gutting necessary work to preserve the climate we all rely on.

Even a small number of people can be effective. After the main protest had dissipated, a small number of people pointing out that driving a cyber truck makes you look like a fascist who hates America embarrassed the drivers enough so that they drove away.

Participating in a #TeslaTakedown protest is a great way to separate Musk from his money. And since money is what gives him power, that is an important way to protect American democracy and defend climate science.

Protest at Tesla dealerships!

If you're in New York City, be there tomorrow, noon, at the dealership in the Meatpacking District. Bring a sign, bring a friend.

Patriotic Americans do not appreciate Nazi billionaires* who try to kneecap our government.

There are big and small ways to shine light on the climate crisis. A big way is, for instance, to commit civil disobedience and risk arrest. (Many brave activists are doing this.)

A small way is to alter the environment in some way to create curiosity.

So what makes a good climate action?

There are lots of possible answers, but...

Sometimes you gotta use humor to get your point across...

Today was a busy day of filming for an ambitious action that will hopefully be funny and hard-hitting.

What's your favorite climate media?

One theory of change says we need fiction to help us imagine different futures and solutions. For example, it's not uncommon to hear climate activists talk about how Kim Stanley Robinson influenced them.

What can New York State Governor Hochul do right now to:
a) make polluters pay for the damage they've done
b) get funds to mitigate and reduce damages due to climate change?

Sign the Climate Superfund Act into law!

Thanks to @climatefamsnyc.bsky.social for organizing!

What's wrong with this pic? It's from the Village Halloween Parade in NYC, taken a couple weeks ago.
