Folks here in Canada and I'm sure in other parts of the world are genuinely afraid of what the USA is becoming. Why would we travel there with the nation descending into fascism before our eyes?

That's impressive. Anecdotally I know many people who have either cancelled trips to the US or are foregoing a usual excursion there in favor of seeing more of Canada. Canada is a vast and diverse nation offering lots of opportunity for exciting travel. Do visit us in Atlantic Canada anytime!
