I believe Dragon Quest 11 to be one of the greatest JRPGs ever made, and probably my favorite game. I am compelled to evangelize for it any chance I get, lol. It is perfectly old school, while feeling modern, and encapsulates the whimsy and fairy tale nature Dragon Quest is known for.
