The only thing stopping me from getting it is that people said it feels like a Mario game and Luigi is like an NPC except in battle. Is this accurate?

Emerald is a great. One thing that made me enjoy it was hacking the first pokemart to have rare candies/max repels/full restores all at $1 just for QOL purposes. I used the GB operator to make it physical, I’ve been doing so many themed runs!
