This formulation is popular: contrasting SCOTUS' intolerance of race as an admissions factor with SCOTUS' tolerance of race as a detention factor. There are, in fact, doctrinal, historical, and logical distinctions between the positions, that one could use to dismiss this comparison.

But...
/1
"Harvard can't use race as a factor in admissions, but ICE can use race as a factor in detentions" is a retrenchment essentially to a pre-Civil War understanding of the Constitution. It's vanishingly few steps removed from "Latinos have no rights which the white man is bound to respect."

I'm testing out @mixpost as a possible solution to manage social media. This is the free version but I really like it so far. This is the first post using it. I'm looking to see how well my engagement is. The pro-version will let me add an entire thread which is super awesome.

If you could give […]

I've finally become a friend of GNOME, too. It's time for us users to take financing of open source software we use into our own hands.

#gnome is one of many open source projects I am regularly donating to. I use it every day on laptops at home, on laptop at work and hopefully one day on my daily driven phone. Do you also like it? Donate few dollars too. Be #FriendsOfGnome. :gnome:

I've been playing around with LLMs and all this MCP stuff. I created an agentic workflow that connects @planifyapp, evolution and so on. It's pretty rad. It improved my productivity.

But, I find LLMs to be very fragile. If you change the LLM or update the LLM the flows break. I don't know how […]

@itsfoss has really been upping their game and I've been enjoying their content. I just subscribed for their yearly subscription. Highly encourage you all to look into it. I don't really need the plus features but I do like supporting good journalism.

I've got to ask, who the hell would use cron in this day and age? Was looking at some customer success stories and one went from using cron to orchestration. I just figured you'd use something like saltstack or puppet instead of cron.

I'd really love to see mastodon allow me to see hidden posts (eg like uspol) and when I click on to reveal that all the replies for that thread also become unhidden. I mean if I made the decision to look, making me unhide every post in the thread is monotonous and makes it harder to participate.

We #pdx people are doing great here. :-) How many millions of dollars was spent to send the national guard here to handle a block of peaceful protesters?
