I am lucky I live in California. I didn't need my spouse's consent. I've heard of women not being able to get sterilized without their husband's consent, or if they're under a certain age or don't already have like 3 kids. It's beyond fucked up that doctors refuse to perform that procedure.

I'm 40 and am childless. It was part choice/ part nature. I chose to have my ovaries and fallopian tubes removed last year due to recurring cysts and severe endometriosis. I was parentified as a kid, so never had a real desire to be a mother.
