If by tv show you mean the “Hercule Poirot” series, he does take getting used to. (The novel I suggested is where we meet him). As a teen, I didn’t care for him; but when I re-read some of the stories later on, I appreciated him. If you don’t like him, try Miss Marple or Tommy & Tuppence.
