Not necessarily DSA backed, but the recent cadre of Seattle leftwing candidates were basically all elected through the wedding of housing urbanists and Democratic socialists.

I think it's fine for Mamdani to blow smoke up Trump's ass just to buy a few more days before he brings down the hammer.

That said, people who think this means anything more than that are either red-browns with an agenda or dipshit rubes

No her parents only started contributing to Wilson's childcare costs in February, so that Wilson could campaign.

Also - I don't care what her husband does, and idea that we should is sexist. Why are you are judging her by the relative success of men her life?
How a KUOW Story Became a Weapon in the Mayoral Race
On October 21, KUOW published a story with the headline: “Katie Wilson can barely afford to live in Seattle. That's why she wants to be mayor.” The story then goes on to reveal that while she “speaks ...

I agree, I think the focus on Jeffries's supposed power seems more bluster. Public opinions rapidly change during campaigning.

That said, as a question of where DSA dedicates resources and the fights it chooses to take on as an organization, the potential issues of an endorsement still stand.
November 20, 2025 at 5:53 AM
Just reading b/w the lines, it seems the issue is more about how an anti-Jefferies campaign would potentially imperil the NYC DSA service delivery agenda than it is about Osse's viability (though the latter is still a concern)

Lower on the totem poll of concerns about his post, but the idea that mass price fixing isn't a problem worthy of a solution is pretty unserious

Seems the ideal for everyone involved is Mamdani and AOC performatively distance themselves from the Osse campaign, while Osse uses early momentum to build a foundation for a campaign the DSA can comfortably support later on

I think you nailed your diagnosis of centrists viewing renter protections (no matter what type) as directly zero sum with housing development. This isn't about software; it's a gauge on the willingness of Portland CCs to race to the bottom of renter protections ostensibly to protect housing supply

An obstacle to the NYC local agenda ? Not currently in any meaningful sense. He only has relational power. Nationally he's a zionist, genocide supporting piece of shit who is actively complicit in Trump's authoritarian takeover.
November 20, 2025 at 12:36 AM
Hakim Jefferies (a federal congressman) is not currently an obstacle to service delivery in NYC. But a Mamdani-backed campaign against Jefferies would burns bridges with local Democrats and that would be an obstacle, whether we like it or not
November 20, 2025 at 12:21 AM
Picking a congressional fight IS playing politics (national politics) potentially at the cost of 'serving the people' of NYC. That's the tradeoff here - do you prioritize the national movement at the potential cost of the local service agenda?
November 20, 2025 at 12:18 AM
Not supporting Osse would mean potentially missing this (presumed) moment of unique unpopularity for the centrist Dem faction. But ultimately it's a question of whether you prioritize the local service delivery agenda in NYC or the national effort to oust centrists. Both valid positions
November 20, 2025 at 12:02 AM
I figure it has to do with a choice of priorities. Mamdani is trying to be a model for socialist governance in the US, so he needs to deliver the goods (and fast). That requires being willing to finagle the centrist NYC power brokers to support his agenda, who won't if they feel threatened
