But think about the maybe a dozen jobs it will create

If you think of it as a visual novel it’s decent, but as an RPG? Mediocre.

I can recognize it as being a good and well-done film but I just do not care about football and found the whole thing boring.

They don’t get to navigate the bureaucracy. They force things through, the courts may or may not pause it, but eventually things are halted so they get what they wanted. This is just vacating positions that will be filled by bootlickers and cronies. A Thiel associate is already head of cdc now.

Language doesn’t change because we become educated in it, that’s some weird thinking. We educate ourselves on current usage which can change. It’s not a willful change it’s a collective change by society. Nobody says “May I?” in conversation and only pedants will try to correct to it.

And indeed it isn’t hard to grasp and yet the archaic usage wastes the energy by trying to go against the more common usage and obstinately tries to enforce an older form.
August 8, 2025 at 8:27 PM
It’s not laziness it’s just the way it is. May and Can are both three letter words, one isn’t lazier than the other to use but May is no longer the most prevalent form for that usage, making it archaic. Similar to how we no longer use Thou, Thine, Thy, or Thee for pronoun usage.

There is no objectivity in language because rules evolve. This may have been correct 70 years ago but it is no longer as such. You say “Can I?” and in common usage you are being understood as either requesting permission or questioning capability depending on context.
August 8, 2025 at 8:21 PM
That would imply the student’s usage was incorrect which isn’t objectively true.
August 8, 2025 at 6:20 PM
You’re free to disagree but that doesn’t make you correct. Rudeness begets rudeness.
August 8, 2025 at 6:18 PM
Everyone is qualified to change language. It’s collective, that’s how language evolves. The usage of “Can I?” Do something is equally correct between requesting permission and questioning capabilities.

It’s a demonstration that the world isn’t black and white. People celebrate when bad people die. Hulk Hogan was a bad person, simple as. He was a piece of shit, he sabotaged efforts for the WWE to unionize. His dickriding for Trump is really all you need to know.

The whole world celebrated hitler’s death.

You don’t have to be perfect to not be a vile racist, dude. The bar is waaaay lower. You must have trouble reaching that acceptable minimum of not being a vile piece of shit but nice people don’t have that trouble condemning this behavior.
July 26, 2025 at 6:45 PM
No. I have never said anything that vile.
