Yes, an astonishing transformation, and I quite see why it was done; still a pity that it's all gone.

Oh. Sorry if I got that wrong, I thought I remembered your name from when I worked in the New Bodleian bookstack, 1996 to 1998. The sounds of that lift (among other things) were the accompaniment to working there.

I too would love one day to have a(nother) chance to see the tunnel beneath Broad Street. I used to use it every day when I worked in the late 1990s in the Bookstack.

It would be much more beneficial if the railways invested their revenues primarily in fixing overcrowding, overpricedness, unreliability and criminality.

THAT is what needs fixing, not provision of clock-time info that most people already have (to impossible accuracy) on their watches or phones.

If this is the same occasion on which Brian Hardy photographed T495 near Coopersale bridge, it was 13 July 1993.

(though I know from bitter experience that the signed diversion takes you all the way to Uxbridge!!).

Please, does anyone know where reliable closure-info for this is published?

Last night ~10pm, knowing there might be a closure anyway, I set Waze to guide me as usual. Normal route, it said.

Of course, heading south from Willow Tree rdbt, there were cones, and all traffic had to come off at Ossie Garvin rdbt and trawl all the way through Hayes and down to Heathrow.
