Yup.

It is air-conditioned, you get to sit in a chair rather than standing all day or crawling around tight spaces, and you mostly talk to the same people (co-workers) rather than a parade of strangers that can openly abuse you and get away with it.

Why on earth does that pay more than retail???

Traditionally it's a specific type of 24/7 total power exchange but with huge social endorsement. It's really weird when you think about it.

Imagine only being able to get a bank account in your dom(me)'s name, with their permission? But that was marriage up to the late 1970's or whatnot.

I think it's overextended logic that does apply to other southern states like Georgia and North Carolina, and to some extent Texas
