Time period is basically "current day". The chipmunks are 30-somethings while Dave is probably in his 50s/60s now.

The time period is vague like the 80s/90s show, how despite the time period going from early 80s into the 90s, the cast didn't age at all.

Simon and Dave are the cleanest Sevilles, only occasionally doing weed, alcohol, shrooms, and rarely LSD.

Theodore is a massive pothead. You can probably imagine why.

Alice is such a druggie that she does drugs that don't even have names yet. She's also an alcoholic.

The Millers are also supportive and even helped Alice with her transition.

Alice doesn't mind being deadnamed, knowing that her old name Alvin is a household name, reminding her of how great she is. She sees her past self as the coolest kid ever, albeit she had moments she regrets.

The only thing is they deal with controversy, drug issues, and issues with their record company screwing them over, the economy, etc. They faced hardship when interest in their old music waned, but the new direction they took their music in with Sludgefest gained them a cult following of stoners!
