Chimaeras👻🐟 , also known as spookfish, are related to sharks and rays, and their snouts are covered in electroreceptors, which help them to find prey. The Pacific barreleye fish (Macropinna microstoma) has unique green, upward-facing eyes designed to spot prey above in the deep ocean's low light. These eyes sit inside a clear, fluid-filled shield for protection and can rotate forward when needed, helping the fish focus on nearby prey. #art #animal

The blobfish (Psychrolutes marcidus), often called one of Earth’s ugliest creatures, lives in deep ocean waters between 600 and 1,200 meters. Its soft body appears normal at these high pressures; however, when brought to the surface, the sudden drop in pressure causes it to lose shape. #animation
