Footnote 4 in Kavanaugh's concurrence serves no purpose other than to walk back Vasquez Perdomo. The footnote itself is shoehorned in there and the statement about racial profiling is a total non sequitur.

Museums in Austria seem to want to call the Nazis by their full name, National Socialists, and refer to the period under their forcible rule as "the National Socialist era." Germany, on the other hand, seems to prefer to use the more derogatory nickname "Nazi" and "Nazi era."

The German equivalent of the kvinnaböske. It's labeled as "Berchtesgaden Dreileiep" or "Berchtesgaden Hurdy-Gurdy."

Oddly, defense counsel elicited this. Maybe not the Nazi flag, but definitely the Confederate ("rebel" flag).

I'm going to guess Judge Nachmanoff won't be thrilled with attorneys who don't know the idiosyncrasies of E.D. Va. trying to go without local counsel. His mentor Judge Brinkema required DOJ Antitrust to have local USAO-EDVA counsel present at all hearings in Google Adtech.
New on MSNBC: Trump's new acting U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan has recruited prosecutors from outside her office to take James Comey to trial, after being unable to find any federal prosecutors in her own office willing to pursue the charges, according to two people familiar with the selections.

The Government seems to have decided that after its failure to secure an indictment against assault with a deadly sandwich guy, it will charge him with misdemeanor assault on a federal officer instead. D.D.C.'s CM/ECF is very broken right now, but it appears to be assigned to Judge Nichols.

The text accompanying the footnote is notable as well.

"Well, lookee here, Huck, do you want to go to heaven? If you want to go to heaven, then I'll tell you right now you better learn to read and you better learn your writin' or you'll never get to heaven 'cause you won't know how."
REPORTER: Is there spiritual motivation behind his peace deals?

LEAVITT: I think the president was serious. The president wants to get to heaven as I hope we all do in this room

Assault with a deadly sandwich guy has been released on an appearance bond with conditions just to obey all laws, notify the court of any change of address, and to return to court. That tells you how dangerous Magistrate Judge Harvey thinks this guy is. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

I think what the Eighth Circuit is doing on *Loper Bright* in today's *Zimmer Radio v. FCC* decision is really fascinating. They defer to the agency's interpretation of a statutory term because the term was couched in "public interest" language in the statute. ecf.ca8.uscourts.gov/opndir/25/07...

This is weird, but there's a kernel of truth to this statement. The approach/departure air space around EWR used to be controlled by New York TRACON (also called N90). In July 2024, the FAA moved that to be controlled by Philadelphia TRACON. 1/7
