I'm watching Beau Travail.

I realize not ALL French Film is like this, but it seems like what the critics love most is the exploration of the mundane. In great, boring detail.

Not my thing....

How good can a movie be if after watching (even if you enjoyed it) you have no desire to ever see it again?
March 13, 2025 at 8:55 PM
I'm just gonna say it:

Anora might be the WORST Best Picture winner in the history of the Oscars.

In 5 years no one will either remember or even admit to ever have seen it....
March 3, 2025 at 3:50 AM
I have nothing against Mikey Madison, but not only did I hate Anora, I hated her portrayal of Anora.

I'm sure she was simply doing what Baker told her to do (which is why he should NOT have won best director) but her character was SO annoyed it made the movie difficult to watch....

Sean Baker wins Best Director for Anora

I really can't make clear just how much I HATED this film
I assume it will sweep the remaining categories

I could go into minute detail about why it's so awful, but it doesn't deserve my time

An aside, Best Director before Best Actress???

Adrien Brody wins Best Actor for The Brutalist.

Academy finally does something right. His performance was top notch.

While I liked Daniel Blumberg's score for The Brutalist the best of all those nominated (and it won Best Original Score)

Trent Reznor's score for Challengers (which wasn't even nominated) was the best original score of the year....

Best Foreign Film winner: I'm Still Here

This was the only feature of ALL the films nominated in EVERY category that I haven't seen yet. Preview looked really good, however, except for Emilia Perez, the other nominees were above average.
I especially loved Flow.
March 3, 2025 at 3:04 AM
The Brutalist for Best Cinematography

I thought this was the toughest category to choose.
Except for Emilia Perez, I think any of them could have won.

I really loved how Nosferatu was shot, but I'm ok with The Brutalist....
March 3, 2025 at 2:58 AM
I'm Not A Robot win Best Live Action Short.

Couldn't find these nominees anywhere to watch them, so.....
March 3, 2025 at 2:44 AM
Just want to make it clear that I am NOT watching the Oscars. I'm simply checking a website that posts the winners in real time.

I have not watching A SINGLE SECOND of the broadcast....
March 3, 2025 at 2:34 AM
No Other Land wins Best Documentary Feature.....

Because of its subject matter, not because it was good.

Soundtrack To A Coup D 'Etat was AWESOME and deserved to win....
March 3, 2025 at 2:21 AM
Best Documentary Short "Only Girl In The Orchestra"

"I Am Ready, Warden" was better.

They're the only two I saw, so I don't feel I can make an accurate choice.
March 3, 2025 at 2:18 AM
El Mal wins Best Original Song for Emilia Perez.

I watched every movie that had a nominated song in it.
I can't even remotely recall ANY of the songs.
That's how memorable they ALL were....
March 3, 2025 at 2:08 AM
Zoe Saldana win Best Supporting Actress for Emilia Perez.

Don't get me wrong, she was the ONLY good thing about that dreadful film, but WTF?

Did the academy not watch The Brutalist???

Felicity Jones should have won.

And just a shoutout for Danielle Deadwyler who was totally snubbed....
March 3, 2025 at 1:51 AM
Best editing for Anora????

Why?

I can't even imagine a worse edit of that movie.
Though it couldn't have been more unwatchable than the edit they used.....

Hair And Makeup to The Substance.

That one has been a slam dunk since opening day.
March 3, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Conclave for Best Adapted Screenplay.

I mean, OK.

This was one of the weakest categories with nothing that particularly stood out as good.

So.... OK.

Dune 2 should have been the obvious winner.

BTW

ANYONE who LIKES ANY of my Oscar posts tonight gets an automatic FOLLOW.

Be a doll and follow back....

Anora wins Best Original Screenplay....

BWAHAHAHAHAHA

What was the screenplay?
Fade in
Anora SCREAMS

A LOT
Then cries for 20 seconds

THE END

Right off the bat we have a bad Oscar pick.

Kieren Culkin was quite good in A Real Pain. But his performance was hardly a stretch.

Jeremy Strong was beyond amazing and should have won for The Apprentice.

I saw Coleman Domingo last year in Rustin and thought, "Not Oscar worthy, but definitely a fresh new acting voice. I'm excited to see what he does next."

Then I saw Sing Sing where he basically did the exact same thing and thought, "Meh...."

While I have no desire to watch, I am interested in who wins what just so I can shitpost.

Who's with me?!?!?!

Has it become the norm for movies to have no plots anymore?

I do believe this is why the majority of movies suck these days....
February 15, 2025 at 10:36 PM
Don't ask me why, but I'm watching Reagan.

If you take it as a straight comedy, it might be bearable, otherwise it's possibly the dumbest movie I've ever seen....
